Old Fashioned Revival

Here’s a post about an old fashioned revival at Higher Ground Baptist in Kingsport, Tennessee. In addition to the prayers that God would send revival, there was a huge amount of work that went into the preparations for this revival. First was setting up the tent, a stage had to be made, chairs placed, a generator set up to provide electricity for sound and lights and many other things. I guess that’s one thing that made it old fashioned. Several people were involved in the preparations and not just showing up to hear a preacher. It seems that today we are so rushed that we barely have time to go to church. But here is an event that has God’s people working together asking God to work in their lives and the life of our church family. Pastor Ronnie brought sermons that challenged our faith from the beginning point of salvation all the way through to living Godly lives. The weather was great and God truly blessed us with His presence. Some folks were saved, some were challenged and wanted to draw closer to God as they walk through life with Him. One answered a call to the ministry during this revival. All these are elements of what most remember as old fashioned revivals. God working and calling people into a relationship with Him. All in all, there’s a lot to be said for God’s people working together and seeking God’s presence in our lives.

Here’s a link to all the photos that I have of the revival. God Bless.

Answered Prayer

Last week was race week at Bristol Motor Speedway. It is always a pleasure to go visit and meet the race fans and if possible share Jesus with them. It wears me out physically but at the same time, I get to see God at work and be a part of His work.

Then Sunday evening I got to help lead our youngest grandchild to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She is now excited and can’t wait until she is “bap-ti-tized” as she says it. Yesterday I had the pleasure of talking with a man whom I had never met, about rededicating his life to Jesus. He had suffered a heart attack Friday and is now recovering. My son in law gave my number to his friend after they mentioned that he would like to talk to a preacher about his life and how to “get right with God” as they put it. I called and spoke with him and prayed with him over the phone. Hope to get to meet him sometime soon.

For a while I have been praying for a problem that my family has been going through and at times I have asked God to just let me see him at work so that I know He is there. My faith knows that He is always present, but my human limits try to tell me that it’s all in vain. I believe God answered my prayer this week in the people he set before me to share His word with them. And I count it the highest honor that one could ever receive to be asked by God himself to minister to another.

All praise honor and glory go to Jesus, my Savior and Lord.
